EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) Meridian Tapping consists of simple tapping, holding or massaging with your fingertips on specific meridian points on your hands, face, head and upper body while focusing on a targeted psychological issue/difficulty - to unblock the energy flow in the body sending a signal of safety to the amygdala in the brain which is responsible for the fight, flight or freeze response.

Tapping is used to stimulate and release emotions that are trapped into the meridians into the organs. Each organ has a vibration and holds different energies. For example, the inability to deal with life is held in the lungs, fear is held in the kidneys and grief is held in the heart. When you tap the different EFT tapping points, it releases stuck energy on key points in the meridian system.  Stuck emotions like recurring anger, fear, grieving, depression and much more are processed and acknowledged during the session.  It has also been shown to be effective with physical symptoms like headaches, back and neck pain and more.

The specific sequence of tapping the meridian points is a hands-on tool to experience the release of negative emotions. The tool is simple, is non-invasive, it is effective, it is empowering.  This tool is always with you-accessible right at your fingertips.  It can be done from anywhere and be applied to anything.

your session:

  1. Start by identifying the issue you would like to work on.

  2. Rate the intensity of the feeling on a scale of 0 - 10 at the current moment [where 10 is the most intense.] For example, the intensity of your head or back ache, or the intensity of any emotion - fear, anger, sadness etc.

  3. Massage your "sore spot" or by tap your "karate chop point" and say the following phrase three times...
    "Even though I have this [insert problem here], I deeply and completely love and accept myself."

  4. Tapping on each point approximately 7 times each, starting from the eyebrow point, tap on each point in the order they appear down the body. After the under arm point, finish off the cycle at the top of the head.

  5. Do this tapping sequence twice (point 4) using any two fingers along either side of the body - it is not necessary to tap on both sides and it is completely OK to alternate from one side to another. Using two fingers seems to work in that it increases the chances of targeting the exact point.

  6. Once you have done two rounds of tapping, score the intensity of the problem on a scale of 0 - 10. The problem could have:

    1. Disappeared completely - well done!

    2. Reduced in intensity - do more rounds of tapping, adjusting the wording appropriately
      (e.g. "Even though I still feel a bit sad, or I have this remaining sadness, I deeply and completely love and accept myself")

    3. Changed to something else or in the case of a physical pain, moved to elsewhere in the body (do further rounds of tapping, adjusting the wording appropriately.

    4. Increased in intensity - this is relevant feedback and again alter your wording to fit what you are feeling as you do further rounds of tapping.

  7. Stop when you feel relief and ready to move on.
